The Scripture Engagement Methods course is teaching me how to analyse a Scripture language project. We have to choose a project from some other place that is not connected to our own workplace/country experience. I have had wonderful support from Janet and Jim Stahl, in the past 2 weeks, who have more recently engaged with the Milne Bay Province of PNG. (I met Janet almost 20 years ago in Darwin when she was actively involved in Vanuatu language projects). My project on the Tawala speaking group could require up to 12 hours of interviews, using a list of questions that need to be applied to the current situation with Tawala people. Overall, the project has 10 elements to it and there are heaps of readings daily to assist in the 10 assignments along the way. Pray that I will be listening carefully and gaining wisdom in identifying the issues of significance for a healthy Scripture engagement work, and in so doing be able to apply what I learn in NE Arnhemland, when I return home.
